Well said, Mr Tanner.
Sadly, I thought the publishing of Siltons e-mail was ANR’s ‘jumping the shark’ moment.

Finally a balanced and reasoned assessment.
I know it will be dismissed by the Wenger Out brigade but their view is mostly unrealistic and generally hysterical and reactionary.
Compare Arsenal and Wenger to any other (Premiership) team and manager and you find a blueprint for sustainable success. I suspect that even Man City and Chelsea fans would prefer to have done it the Arsenal way.
Which ownership would Man U prefer, ours or theirs?
From Singapore Sean : management
Hi Myles,
Your recent posts reflects some of the readers’ take on proper managements of football clubs; and those articles you chose to display are quite well written.
However, Wenger doesn’t need to know what to do “properly”, he knows what fans need, what glory and loyalty (& money) trophies bring to the club, not to mention attracting good players to join the club.
I have had many years of experience in management myself, and the challenges to good management, sometimes, is not about knowing what to do, living with what cannot be done (despite many objections from fans and possibly some players) and tell others the wrong way is the right way.
If you cannot accept it, there’s the door!
This is what Wenger is hired for. He delivers…but only the results Kroenke wants, which are mainly financial in nature.
For 10 years we have put up with a work-in-progress team, and somehow, Wenger allows the team to be handicapped year after year, we have always been slightly short of something, so that we are strong enough to stay top 4 but not good enough to be Champions.
When there is a problem, there is a need to see King Wenger. This year is mainly about forwards – Giroud & Walcott – who to pick? Then the next striker is coming and then not coming…., then we will be told January is not a time for high profile purchases. We know the drill too well now.
Wenger says his retirement decision will be instinctive. Wow! He is really under no pressure,.
And how can a club be expected to run to the satisfaction of the fans when it is run by a hobby man, a hobby man who does not care about the fans? Cheers but this is only football!!
p.s. I still feel good about the 3-0 win over ManU…and I have Sanchez to thank, mainly.
From Darryl : Please refrain from printing drivel
As soon as Ian Tanner submitted the following in his post, you should have hit delete.
“I’d count 18 years of continuous Champions League football as successful, especially as the financial doping at Chelsea and Man Citeh have virtually guaranteed two of the four spots are taken every season, leaving just two from 18, one of which is almost always for the 800lb gorilla that is Manchester United. ”
As bad an example of delusional, excuse making, satisfied with mediocrity, brainwashed by Wenger, propagandist drivel as you could ever hope to see.
Does anyone think Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid or even Manchester United would dare boast about the number of times they qualified for the Champions League?
Of course not, they’d reserve their pride for the number of times they won it.
