AS YOU KNOW, Anelka has been recalled by Domench to the French squad for the Costa Rica friendly in Martinique.

It’s ironic that as the Paris suburbs burn, the sons of immigrants are playing a charity game in the colonies.

Trezeguet is injured and Lyon keeper Gregory Coupet has been dropped from a starting line-up which is alarmingly experimental.

FRANCE TEAM : 16-Fabien Barthez; 5-William Gallas, 15-Lilian Thuram, 21-Gael Givet, 3-Eric Abidal; 18-Alou Diarra, 8-Vikash Dhorasoo, 11-Sylvain Wiltord, 7-Florent Malouda; 12-Thierry Henry, 9-Nicolas Anelka.

The game is live on Eurosport at 7.30 tonight.

Arsene always dreamed of pairing Thierry and his mate Nicholas.

Tonight will be an emotional moment for both boys. But it will be fun for them as well.Anelka has matured.

ARSENAL’S FIXTURE LIST tells us that the destiny of the redcurrants will depend on how they do against our friends in the north in the next four Premiership games.

A six-pointer at Wigan on Saturday 19th is followed by Blackburn away on the 26th, Bolton away on December 3rd, and Newcastle at Highbury on the 10th.

If the redcurrants don’t do well in those four games, Chelsea at Highbury on the 18th will be irrelevant.

THOUGHT THIS would be dull week but I’ve been enjoying the serialisation of Sir Christopher Meyers’s book.

He’s the ambassador whose memoir, DC Confidential, further exposes Blair.

ON SATURDAY, SVEN will play Ledley King in midfield against Argentina in Geneva.

Has the FA started reading ANR ?

If so, well done, chaps.

The Swiss are charging our reporters £600 for each phone line in the stadium.
