From Melvyn Segal: Things can only get better – not !
Hi Myles
Still loving your posts.
I went to San Siro 4 years ago and sadly I went again on Wednesday night.
4 years ago we played a better Milan team and smashed them 2-0.
Weds night they wiped the floor with us and could easily have doubled their score.
Those morons still singing AW songs, are they that blind that they can\’t see how far back he has taken us in just 4 years !!
Djourou has been rewarded with a new contract and an abject Rosicky commands a place in the first XI – is AW taking the piss or has he gone Arse-senile ?
Sunderland and, dare I say it, Spuds may hopefully put us out of our misery.
But I\’m not so sure as Kroenke has a win/win bet because he assumes, and probably correctly, that Usmanov\’s interest is effectively his insurance policy, so he can\’t lose – he either makes a profit under Wenger or if it goes wrong he makes a profit selling to Usamov (at the current price around $200M) – the only losers are the fans.
I met an Arsenal mate of mine a few weeks ago (Amos) who met you at a recent meeting and he confirmed you really are an old hippy.
Love it, don\’t change !
Myles says :
Spurs could do Arsenal an favour by winning 5-0 on Sunday.
Football goes in cycles and it’s their turn now.
Arsenal are at a crossroads but Stan Kroenke doesn’t know that.
I was wrong about Stan and so was Danny, unfortunately.
Danny wanted to secure the future of Arsenal and did what he thought was best. We all do that and sometimes we get it wrong.
I don’t mind if people think I’m an old hippy.
A lot of my friends were hippies. And I did see five of the Grateful Dead’s six London concerts in 1972. And I did spend a day with the group as they prepared & soundchecked for their first show at the Empire Pool, now known as Wembley Arena.
There a lot of stuff about the Dead in my 2/3 finished rock memoir, things Jerry Garcia said to me, things Phil Lesh said, Sam Cutler and Alan Trist.
I reviewed them for The Times, a very good newspaper then.
We’re just off for a walk on Hampstead Heath, where I hope to see Ramon Vega jogging again.
He’s a member of my gym, I think, but I’ve only seen him there once
