These days Wenger looks for players who will slot in.
Guys who fit his short-passing style of play and don’t cost too much.
We’ll soon see what this Egyptian can do. But I can’t make predictions, merely offer a few observations.
The future is uncertain, a story whose chapters are unwritten.
We don’t know if Arsenal will beat Liverpool at Anfield or if Man City will beat Everton.
We did not reckon Leicester would have 40 points from 20 games.
Nobody dreamed that Willian would be Chelsea’s top scorer this season.
Mohamed Elneny, 23, has left Basel to join a London’s biggest club.
There is always a certain amount of culture shock for a newcomer. That said, if I ever I saw a player who could fit in quickly with Arsenal’s style, it’s this guy.
He is a reliably nimble continuity player who can keep the ball moving accurately.
Mainly, I think, Elneny is one for the future.
He might do great things but he’ll do them in 2017, not 2016
If the Egyptian gives the ball to the German, that is enough because Ozil will create a goal.
That, and Petr Cech, is what Arsenal is all about this season and I’m sure than Elneny can do that. And maybe a lot more.
It’s possible that this time next year – January 5th 2017 – Elneny might have blossomed as Willian is doing at that moment. Maybe Elneny next year will have scored 8 goals by now.
Willian’s goal at Crystal Palace was superb- the second best goal of the weekend .
Did you see Dele Alli’s chest-and-volley wondergoal in the 1-1 draw at Goodison? Wow!
There was so much I wanted to say this morning….
Realised my holiday was over yesterday when Jan took the secateurs to the Christmas tree.
Have not done pilates for 3 weeks, so this morning’s class will be challenging.
