Edu
The 22-year-old, (Edu) Eduarde Daude Gaspar finally signed for Arsenal.
Edu has been associated with Corinthians since he was five, winning two Brazilian championships and last year’s World Club Championship.
Wenger said: “He has the long passing game, the technical ability and the ball-winning skill to replace what we have missed with Emmanuel Petit, but Brazilian players can take some time to adjust to life in the Premiership.”
And added:”We had this with Silvinho when we first signed him from Brazil and even Sylvain Wiltord from France. Edu has not played much at all since we agreed to sign him and it could be as much as four or five months – nearly May – before he is ready.”
Bergkamp
Dennis Bergkamp has extended his contract with Arsenal by two years to 2003, saying: “This contract will almost certainly be the last one I ever sign which means I’ll be finishing my career here at Arsenal.”

‘How happy I was’
A friend of mine called Stuart sends me massages on my mobile phone – sometimes informative, sometimes for a moan
but on this bitter cold tuesday while working at home
how happy I was when I looked at my phone.
1 message received,inbox,select
Bergkamp has signed a two year contract
Brazilian Edu has finally arrived;
Kanu,Luzhny,Lauran,Adams,Bergkamp back in the side.
How happy I was when I looked at my phone
now we can bring the championship home
13 points behind no chance they all say
surely it’s possible when we really play.
12 points behind it was in 98
but as soon as we played we’d settled our fate
so everything is possible when we show our class
so watch out United and ‘COME ON THE ARSENAL’.
