Dembele is the player Arsenal and Man United both need

Mousa Dembele played like a powerhouse left-half from the Sixties.

He was a bit like Coluna of Benfica and Portugal.

Pochettino has got Dembele fit and motivated.

He’s now the player the Arsenal midfield badly needs.

A big playmaking athlete who cruises forward and  bullies people and scores goals.

Two clubs at different stages of their evolution.

Spurs owner Joe Lewis, a 77-year old billionaire, hasn’t built his stadium yet and would love to sell Tottenham and let someone else build it.

But he can’t sell and get the profit he wants.

His accountant nephew Daniel Levy allowed Italian smoothie Franco Baldini to spunk the Gareth Bale money, which has set Spurs back two years.

Mauricio Pochettino is 43 and doing a fine job with a bouncy pressing style. He’s rapidly rebuilt Spurs into a nicely balanced young team that’s developing month by month.

Arsenal, by contrast, are at a much later stage of their development as a business.

They’ve built the stadium and grabbed the North London /tourist market.

Arsenal should always dominate that market now.

But the board is too mature.

Arsenal need ambitious younger directors who can find and support the coach who will take London’s biggest club to the next level.
