Let’s get rid of the old beatnik as soon as possible.

easyJet would claim (and can prove) that I returned to UK on Monday.
But I know I haven’t really come back yet.
I’m still somewhere else, still in a transitional zone, slowly finding my feet after flying home from Pisa.
Once long ago when the kids were small, we came back from one of our 15 summers in the Algarve and I rushed out to a match at QPR the same day.
About 15 minutes into the second half I realised that the teams had turned round at half-time and were now attacking in the other direction.
After that moment, I always took time to acclimatise after holidays.
So I still haven’t opened my mail or The London Review of Books.
