PSG 1 Chelsea 1
What happens if PSG go for it at Stamford Bridge?
What if PSG press hard and go for it and score?
Diego Costa and Fabregas were dismal in a suprisingly shabby Chelsea performance.
First half was cagey and dull because both teams respected each other.
Then two headers were scored in 36 and 54.
JT crossed from the left, Cahill flicked on, Ivanovic headed a priceless away goal.
Second half, PSG fought back with energy & flair, Matuidi crossed beautifully for Cavani to head in for 1-1, giving the excellent Courtois no chance.
But I didn\’t see that goal in real time.
Jan and Halifax Jan were making pancakes in the kitchen after I’d left them at the dining table at 7.30pm.
It was half-time and my best friend Doug rang and the last thing I said to him was, “Ramires will make a 45-yard run with the ball late in the game.â€
We saw Roy Keane say, “That\’s a massive blow for PSG. They\’ll do well to come back from this.â€
Paul Scholes said, “PSG need to pass it forward more.â€
Doug and I continued talking five minutes into the second half, which we never do.
In 52 I got a call to go in the kitchen to put sugar or lemon juice or orange juice or maple syrup on a pancake, so I got off the sofa and did that and came back with a pancake on a plate and sat down again and shouted, “Fucking hell- PSG have scored! I knew you should have brought it to me!â€
With all my experience, I should have known better than to leave the room during play.
I definitely know that goals can come at any time, even in tight games.
Lineker said that to me one night, “Goals can come at any time.†Bland but true. That was on the pitch at Wembley after England had won 3-1.
Fortunately, I was able to rewind on my Skybox, so I saw what happened.
But I missed the drama of seeing Cavani\’s shocker in real time.
Then Cavani almost scored the winner with a toepoke past the post in 80.
VERDICT : Chelsea very lucky to get out of the Parc Des Princes with a 1-1 draw.
PSG should have had a go at them sooner.
Costa and Fabregas may not be so rusty in the second leg.
I thought Ibra mistimed both his headers but attracted attention and move defenders around, making gaps for other attackers.
Zlatan himself said, “I think the goalkeeper made incredible saves.â€
Mourinho was asked, “Did you miss a chance to win tonight?â€
His reply was, “We could lose too.†He said, “The two legs is now a one leg.â€
FULL DISCLOSURE : I didn\’t realise it was Pancake Tuesday till the 72nd minute. By then I\’d eaten about four of them.
PS : I backed BTS but can’t remember why I did that, as I thought Chelsea might nick it 1-0.,
