Carew?

John Carew could be out of Valencia after they signed Atletico Madrid striker Salva for £8million.

The Express on Sunday reckons Valencia would be looking for £15m for the 21-year-old Norwegian, and whilst Liverpool and Juventus are also interested in the striker, Arsenal have unsettled Kanu and Sylvain Wiltord to use as possible bargaining tools.

Unfair dismissal

Tom Doherty has won a case of unfair dismissal from the Post Office after he was dismissed following pictures of him in Copenhagen “in alleged crowd trouble”.

France to travel far and wide

France – who, as World Cup holders, don’t have to qualify for next year’s World Cup finals – have lined up four more friendlies for this year, including trips to Australia and Chile.

All the France games are classified as ‘FIFA A’ games, which means clubs must release players or face bans and fines.

There are worries that some Arsenal players could return jet lagged.

Keown charged

Martin Keown has been charged with two counts of violent conduct by the Football Association following Arsenal’s match with Leeds at the end of last season.

Keown is alleged to have clashed with Lee Bowyer and to have elbowed Mark Viduka during the game in May, which Arsenal won 2-1. If found guilty, Keown can expect a three-match ban.

Both incidents were were picked up by television cameras and the FA consulted the video advisory panel of former officials, referees and managers before announcing the charges.

“Ugly double”

Arsenal scored a unique double in a Gay Football Supporters Network poll.

They were voted the ugliest team with their midfielder Ray Parlour rated the biggest turn-off.

“You would not want to be in the same dressing room as Kanu, Adams, Parlour and Keown” – a football fan was quoted as saying in the Guardian on why Arsenal were voted ugliest team in the Premiership.
