Stephen Byers, cabinet minister responsible for planning, has asked for more time to consider the stadium development at Ashburton Grove.
He has the powers to call it in for a public inquiry or let it go ahead.
He had to make a pronouncemnt during the 21 days subsequent to Islington Council notifying the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions.
Islington Council notified the DTLR on 28 December.
