From Brendan : the horrors to come
Hi Myles,Weve got Atrteta
I liked Jon Silton’s post a lot, it was measured, considered and I agreed with a lot of it. Especially the bits about defending.
It’s worth noting that Olympiakos is owned by a guy who has been charged with bribery and corruption. That’s not going to help Arsenal though.
Nor is the fact that Bayern Munich are supercharged at the moment, and Robert Lewandowski is the brilliant spearhead of a fantastic attack.
I’m bored of watching Arsenal lose to Bayern Munich. But I’ll watch it again because I’m a fan of Lewy and Guardiola.
I’ve never much liked Bayern as a team but I can’t help liking them a bit now. I have absolutely no hope that we can beat them. The days of beating Barcelona at home with a clown in goal are long ago. We are now playing Bayern Munich with a striker who is doing his apprenticeship on the job, while they have arguably the hottest striker in world football today playing for them.
I really really hope that Lewy can do the business for Poland and get them to the Euros too. I know that this would be at Scotland’s expense, and maybe even Ireland’s, but this is probably Poland’s best chance in a long time.
Lewandowski, Milik, Krychowiak.. these are the best outfield players the country has produced in several decades.
Why Monsieur Wenger didn’t make the outlay for Krychowiak, I don’t know. We are crying out for decent, reliable cover for our back four… at least they could be protected when the ball is in open play.
Myles says :
Thanks, Brendan.
If Poland had had Lewandowski in 1974 they could have lifted the World Cup.
If Lubanski, a player of genius, had been fit, they might have done it anyway.
I’m not anti-German but I thought that Deyna, Lato, Szarmach and the boys were very unlucky to have to play the hosts on a waterlogged pitch. On a dry pitch they’d have won.
Having only glimpsed Krychowiak, I can’t yet comment on his class or potential.
