Big week for season ticket holders.
If you have not renewed yet, you have till Monday. The deadline is June 1st.
On the season ticket renewals the club sent a package with a CD-ROM enclosed.
On the front are Adebayor, Walcott, Fabregas, Nasri and Van Persie.
Below that: “Now is our Time”.
When you open the renewal pack there is a quote from Wenger :”We have to keep belief and the trophies will come naturally.”
You wonder who authored that slogan : Now is our Time.
How vague is that? What does it mean? What copywriting genius came up with that classic?
Now is our Time, so send us £1,400 ? Now is our Time, so send us £1,700 and sign up for more of the same madness. We’ve sold you the Future for three years but now, for a change, we’re selling you Now.
Because Now is our Time.
Pretty New Age isn’t it?
Quite happy-clappy, like a message from a cult leader : Believe, brothers and sisters, Now is our Time.
But what is Now to most Gooners?
Now is fourth, Now is nothing to boast about, Now is 11 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League, Now is 13 points behind Liverpool and 18 points behind Manchester United.
And, crucially, Now is a time without matches, so Now is the time for a new religion to blossom. Join us in the First Pentecostal Church of Now, buy into our style, our philosophy, our plans to educate an Empire, starting in Emirates schools where kids will be taught to play football the Arsene Way, to pursue, from an early age, a higher mission than mere trophies.
On ANR, there are loads of things I want to say. But not today.
This week it’s Barcelona v Manchester United in Rome and Rob Hughes says it’s humid and 26 degrees over there.
Any final is 50-50 but I reckon United will handle the pressure better.
On Sunday I wrote Barcelona as a City Break .
