Arsenal will not face Drogba, who had knee op today

Chelsea star Didier Drogba had an operation on his knee ligament today.

He will miss next Sunday’s game at the Emirates.

Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier said on Sky that Theo Walcott’s future is as a striker, not as a winger.

Charlie thinks Walcott could have an impact at Middlesbrough tomorrow.

I’m not in the preview business today because previews are impossible if you don’t know who is playing.

At Newcastle, I didn’t expect Eduardo to start the game.

Reading played Liverpool today. After 70 minutes, Liverpool were 3-1 down. So Rafa took Stevie G off. He had decided the game was over. Rafa was right. The game finished 3-1. Rafa was saving Gerrard for Marseilles. He had started the game with a silly 4-3-3 featuring Torres-Crouch-Voronin.

Manchester United beat Derby 4-1 and are one point behind Arsenal.

Chelsea beat Sunderland 2-0 without Drogba.

Newcastle beat Birmingham 2-1 thanks to an iffy penalty that Martins won to level it.

Muntari’s second goal in a 3-1 Portsmouth win at Villa Park might be Goal of the Month.

Middlesbrough v Arsenal ?

The Guardian’s probable Arsenal team listed the same line-up that started at Newcastle.

But I doubt that Eduardo will start.

I now have Setanta on a free two-month trial.

Being allergic to Steve McManaman, I don’t listen to his “punditry”.

Last week for the Villa game the Setanta pundits were Tim Sherwood and McManaman and I’m grateful to Rob Hughes for sending me some astonishingly ignorant half-time quotes from Tim and Macca.

On the Adebayor header, Sherwood said, “It’s a nice header but Knight should’ve headed his nose ….should’ve really gone in there and messed him abart. Once you get a bloodied nose, you ain’t so brave no more in this league.”

Macca said,  “We were agreeing as the game went on that Aston Villa had no chance trying to play football against them, they should have kicked a few people, nothing nasty, not breaking legs but pulled shirts, kicked shins, stop their rhythm. It’s not professional to stand off Arsenal and let them play the pretty stuff.”

After those sentiments, I will not be watching half-time from Middlesbrough !
