“Arsenal lost Adebayor, Milan lost Kaka.” Excuse me?

I’ve heard everything now.

Speaking after a 2-2 draw at Barnet, The Greatest Spindoctor In The History of Football mentioned Adebayor in same breath as Kaka .

Wenger said, “Believe me, he’s a great player and he’ll show that again at Manchester City. Big clubs lose big players. Milan have lost Kaka and Milan will go on. Arsenal have always lost players and continued at the top level.”

Adebayor sighed for Man City because no Champions League club wanted him.Or would pay him what Wenger was paying him.

It’s quite bizarre to compare the clumsy, ignorant Adebarndoor with Ricardo Kaka, the most elegant goalscorer to come out of Brazil since Zico .

I watched the whole of the Barnet friendly (2-2) on Arsenal TV. But I’m not going to comment on a rehearsal.

I prefer the real thing. In general, rehearsals are for groups and pre-season is for managers.
In passing, the big rumour at Barnet was a Senderos-Hangeland swap deal with Fulham.

I’m waiting to see Wenger’s starting X1 at Everton on Saturday August 15. That starting X1 will tell us what he is thinking and how his players are shaping up. That performance should give us a clue about how the first 10 games will go. July is a training month. I’ll have more to say in August.

On Saturday night I took a phone call in the dining room at 7.15pm.

“He’s gone ! It’s just been on Sky Sports News.”
“He’s actually signed for Man City?”
“Yes!”
“We should throw a party tomorrow. We should have a barbecue in Hyde Park and invite everyone who hates Adebayor. About 500,000 would turn up.”

I went into the lounge to break the news to Jan, and also Caroline, who was home for the weekend.
Asked Caroline to send a message.
“Can you text Michael as follows: ADE SIGNED MAN CITY 5 YEAR CONTRACT. “
So she texted her brother.
Michael’s reply was almost instant : GREAT NEWS .THAT’S MADE MY SUMMER.

Every Gooner we know feels the same way.
