From Terry : Wenger going under
Brian Clough stayed on too long.
Now Wenger is doing the same thing.
Football has moved on. Wenger hasn’t.
But the biggest problem is an intransigent board who do nothing about the situation.
We are no longer a football club that aspires to win trophies while trying to do this in an economically sensible manner.
We are now a profit-making business which uses football as its means to make the profit.
The most annoying thing is that we, the fans, are the true ‘Arsenal’.
But we have no say in what goes on (there is no transparency in terms of Arsenal’s vision for the future).
Then whole thing is so bizarre, you couldn’t make it up.
The only power we have is not to turn up for 3 home games in succession.
An empty stadium would press all sorts of buttons.
Can’t see many being brave – and visionary – enough to do this.
Unless ‘Black Scarf’ or a similar group were able to show each fan that a united approach might make a difference.
Otherwise, it’s more of the same while the board remain so greedy, out of touch and so short-sighted.
From Goonergerry : Arsene FC
Booting people out of the ground for wanting a failing manager replaced?
Nobody can argue that Arsenal’s fall from the upper echelons of football is not deserved.
Arsenal FC should simply rename itself Arsene FC and make it clear that only the AKB are allowed to call themselves supporters of Arsene FC.
Players can then decide whether they wish to play for a football cult or a football club that intends to win football matches.
We are witnessing the demise not of a team but of a once-great club under the watch of the most incompetent, negligent Board of Directors in the history of football.
On their present trajectory, Arsenal will be playing Championship football in 2 years time.
The offer of a contract extension to a blatantly failing manager beggars belief.
Arsene’s methods have failed.
His idiot youth policy, his transfer strategy, and his obsession with pointless possession have failed far more comprehensively than Dalglish at Liverpool.
Myles says:
Board are elitists who really enjoy the privileges and luxury..
Actually, in truth, there is no board.
There is only Ivan Gazidis.
And he cannot call himself a CEO until he appoints the next manager.
Until then he’s just a honky administrator with a law degree.
The CEOs of companies of Arsenal’s size generally get a salary of around £500,000.
