Anelka to replace Henry? Or Huntelaar?

Should Arsene re-sign Anelka?

Or should he go for Huntelaar ?

Has Dennis Bergkamp been having extensive conversations with goal-machine Klaas-Jan Huntelaar? And his Ajax pal Ryan Babel?

All will be revealed soon, I suspect.

Friday June 22 turned out rather well and I'll remember it as the day I got two results in four hours.

Last night at 7pm, dropped down to the pub near Ian Grant's offices and after a while we went back to the office and talked about switching ANR to a new server which will not crash five times a day. We discussed the latest Arsenal news and Ian told me that Gilles Grimandi used to play for Stan Kroenke's Colorado Rapids, which is handy, as Gilles could be Arsenal's new sporting director. (I met Gilles at Colney once and it was like talking to a sensible middle class student. But Gilles was a lion on the field and I loved that about him.)

We were comparing notes on the latest news and I said that the most recent Thierry Henry news that I believed was that Wenger wanted £17 million for Thierry and Ferran Soriano had offered £15 million and I said,"Split the difference ! "

Then Ian said, "Let me go to Reuters and show you what I used to do when I first started doing ANR"

By now it was about 8.15pm and Ian logged onto Reuters and there, bang in the middle of his big Dell monitor, was the latest headline: GUARDIAN UNLIMITED : Henry sold to Barcelona for £16 million.

"Hallelujah!" I shouted. "This is great news! Wenger is a genius! He's got 16 million for him."

I was dancing round the office, shouting. Fortunately, there was only the two of us there.

"Now we'll have a team! Now we'll have a captain!"

Being a lifelong Gooner, Ian wasn't so jubilant.
"Who are we gonna get?" he said.
"Don't worry about that ! Enjoy the moment! The diva has gone ! All along, ever since PSV, haven't I said Wenger was protecting his value? Protecting his reputation?"

Incidentally, spare a thought for the hacks last night. As soon as the news broke in Spain at 7pm, Jerome Anderson's mobile was switched off, Grimandi's mobile was switched off. Guillam Balague's mobile was on, though.

Since celebrity culture arrived, and since the Dianafication of British life, many people have become even more emotional about the sale of stars from their football club. I'm not emotional because I'm not into hero-worship. To me, footballers are blokes. Footballers are blokes who kick a ball in a team.

My other result came at 4.15 pm when Caroline phoned from Sussex to say she got a 2.1.Her pals all got 2.1s including Jessica, my best friend's daughter, who is at Glastonbury. Caroline got a first for her dissertation on Polish immigration into northwest London, so she was chuffed with that. She did geography & sociology but belongs, administratively, to geography and reckons the geog school is the only one that provides a party on the day the results go up :"When we got to Soca the results were on a noticeboard surrounded by fairy lights, stars and balloons, and there were all these people bringing round champagne and strawberries! Later on we went over to Huma and they only had crisps!"

Soca is social sciences and Huma is humanities.

TWO RESULTS IN ONE DAY !!!!

I need a few more days like that.

The news of Thierry Henry being sold for £16 million was released at 7pm after the Stock Exchange closed at 4pm on Friday.

That was no co-incidence.

This news may affect Monday's share price, which you can view at Arsenal Holdings PLC after clicking on Market Data.

Under-21 final : Holland 4 Serbia 1 is a scoreline which makes Stuart Pearce look quite good.
