AKBs will always be fooled again, say Ben and Goonergerry

From Goonergerry:

Justin Byrne’s diatribe reads like a classic Arsene apologist post.

Put up a false proposition then knock it down with an irrational defence of dear old Arsene based on the untestable and largely irrelevant assumption he knows more about football than any fans or any of his critics.

The Arsene apologists are specialists in failure,  specialists in inventing lame excuses for the team’s consistent failure to deliver when it really matters.

It’s the stadium, the oil money, the nasty refs, the over-pricing of players, injuries, luck, the difficulty (only for Arsenal) of completing transfers), anti Wenger fans, in fact anything except the Manager.

One article on the globalisation of football in an American newspaper- is entirely unrelated to the reasons that approximately 60% (probably an underestimate) of Arsenal fans who want Wenger to be replaced as manager .

Opinions about whether Arsene Wenger should be replaced or not are not based on whether he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of football or whether he sounds intelligent talking about global finance but what he does as manager of Arsenal and how the team he has constructed, trained and coached over nearly 20 years has performed over time against competitors and whether results wise Arsenal are progressing.

The suggestion that Arsene Wenger (whose team has won one FA cup in 9 years) could not be improved upon as a coach when he has had a completely free hand to develop his team simply ignores the fact that since largely overcoming the financial stresses imposed by the stadium move, Arsenal’s results have not only not improved but have gone backwards against our main competitors.

Wenger has never beaten Mourinho in 12 attempts and only beat Manchester United twice in 10 attempts since 2011, and had not beaten a top 4 side in the EPL since 2011 until we beat Man City in October 2014.

A couple of welcome victories over below-par Manchester sides this year is not sufficient evidence that this decline has been arrested.

Poor performances and defeats against Monaco, Swansea, Southampton, Spurs, and Stoke this year provide evidence that Arsene Wenger still doesn’t know.

The fantasists amongst Arsenal fans are those who continue to rely entirely on blind faith in the manager to bring success- who not only refuse to critically analyse the manager’s record themselves, but are opposed to any other fan doing so.

From Ben :  Justin’s just another AKB extremist

Justin calls those that defend Wenger WKBs, which to me is an exercise in deflection.

He cannot defend Wenger, so he accuses those who provide coherent evidence of his ineptitude of being extremists.

From where I’m sitting, he is the one making extremist statements, such as implying that people believe Wenger cannot teach defence.

The issue is not that Wenger cannot teach defence, but the EXTENT to which he cannot teach defence. In other words, AW is unable to educate his players to a level that will ever result in him creating a team capable of challenging for major honours.

This is typical AKB speak, whereby they deliberately over exaggerate criticism of Wenger or pretend they cannot read between the lines in order to discredit people’s opinion, or deflect attention away from their own inability to provide a coherent counter argument.

In my opinion AKBs go beyond delusion into a much more sinister territory.

Having invested so much time and effort in protecting the image of the manager, no amount of evidence will ever result in them changing their opinion of him, no matter how daft his decisions, how obvious his faults or for how long Arsenal continue to underachieve.

Unfortunately, AW has more than a few flaws.

He is beyond being simply a stubborn, one-dimensional coach, but he deliberately manipulates the agenda in order to protect his best interests – be they financial or reputational.

The really sad thing is, both Wenger and his AKB chums put their ego and opinions above what is best for Arsenal Football Club.

The fact that they accuse critics of being traitors – another deliberate over exaggeration –  is the height of hypocrisy.

There’s no bigger traitor to Arsenal Football Club than Arsene Wenger, or an AKB.
