After dodgy Arsenal win 4-3, imperious Man United thrash West Ham 4-0

Manchester United are a momentum team again!

With energy, pressure and power, Jose Mourinho’s new Manchester United blasted West Ham off the pitch.

Matic was colossal, winning the ball to create the first goal for Lukaku.

The big man’s cute run and finish had a touch of Robbie Fowler about it. No higher praise than that.

Matic had 87 touches and caught the eye by doing things he never did at Chelsea.

He’s suddenly become a spectacular gladiator because The Theatre of Dreams demands spectacle.

The stadium is twice the size of Stamford Bridge, which suits a more compact style of tactical football.

Lukaku got his second goal with a nice header after half-time and Martial and Pogba scored a good goal each at the death.

After 10 minutes of Newcastle v Spurs, I backed Spurs to score the next goal. Then, seconds later, I backed them win the game.

Newcastle lost two players to injury and Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for treading on Dele Alli’s ankle.

Without Danny Rose, and with Son and Wanyama on the bench, Spurs played cautiously and strategically.

Playmaker Christian Eriksen was as perceptive as ever but it was 0-0 at half-time and still goalless on the hour. Then Eriksen played a lovely pass forward into the box and Dele Alli converted sweetly for 0-1. That goal came in 61 and left back Ben Davies zoomed into another pass by the Dane and made it 2-0 to Tottenham.

New right back Kyle Walker-Peters won Man of the Match, which is exciting for a 20-year-old making his Premier League debut.

A week ago at Wembley I said: This isn’t Chelsea!

I was amazed by how badly the champions played in the Community Shield.

On Saturday Burnley went to Stamford Bridge and played very well and were 3-0 up at half-time.

Gary Cahill was deservedly sent off, fouling carelessly after slack play by Gary Cahill. Fabregas became very angry and he got sent off as well.

Having believed that Fabregas would be a good manager for Arsenal, I’m starting to have doubts about that

Great stuff by Sean Dyche, an under-rated manager.

Morata, who did not start, got a good goal back, then provided an assist to David Luiz, who made it 2-3 in 88 minutes

Spurs and Liverpool are both energy teams but the biggest difference between them is that Spurs know how to defend.

Let’s face it, Watford 3 Liverpool 3 wasn’t a surprising result.

Since Klopp took over, Liverpool have conceded 27 league goals from corners and free-kicks. 27 goals from set-pieces. Wow!

Liverpool travel to Hoffenheim for a CLQ on Tuesday night.

On Friday night I watched the long–awaited Arsenal-Leicester game and Lacazette headed in Elneny’s hard cross in 96 seconds to give team the start they needed.

But Arsenal lacked the defensive composure to build on that electric early goal, conceding to Okazaki only three minutes later.

Jamie Vardy was on fire, scoring two excellent goals in a phenomenal 90-minute performance. His first in 29 make it 2-1 to Leicester and after Welbeck made it 2-2 at half-time, the extra-terrestrial ferret pounced again to make it 3-2 to Leicester.

However, it’s a 14-man game these days and Wenger has often proved good at the 14-man game.

Here he brought on Ramsey and Giroud and the Welshman produced a brilliant strike to make it 3-3.

Then Giroud won the game with a fierce header which rocketed in off the underside.

Arsenal 4 Leicester 3.

It’s always good to get three points. But it’s very bad to ship three goals at home.

Did you see Steve Bould’s face?

He was furious, perhaps with himself, for staying there so long.
