Adrian’s thesis : The Wenger syndrome

Evening Myles, hope you’re safe and well.

Irony: (noun)

The poignant difference, or incongruity, between what is expected and what actually occurs.

Isn’t it ironic that Wenger’s best period came when he was least known, had the least resources and worked under the least expectations.

As his reputation grew along with resources and expectations, his ability to deliver began to diminish.

Now, at the height of his fame and with huge resources at his disposal, his inability to deliver success is unprecedented.

It’s so classical, it seems like a syndrome: a pattern of symptoms indicative of some disease.
