Still a proud Gooner (We don’t have Daniel Levy or Mourinho)

From Brendan : 1-1 draw with Spurs

Hi Myles

I would have to say that as Arsenal supporters, we are used to hearing, year after year, season after season, that Spurs are going to overtake us in every way, this year, this season.

It hasn’t happened yet, so you’ll forgive a slight shrug of incomprehension at the whole thing, I hope.

Also, Spurs always play better against Arsenal than they normally do. Last season, when they beat us 2-1 at their place in February, I said straight away that they (Spurs) wouldn’t play like that again that season, and they didn’t. Again… so what?

Another thing is this – Pochettino’s style is to get his players in the opposition’s faces as much as possible, press, harangue, win the ball back quick. Can a team play like that, with rocket boosters, for 90 minutes? Clearly not.

So maybe you will let me off having a slight smirk about all the positive Tottenham hype, and all the negative Arsenal hype.

The manager, Monsieur Wenger, is flawed, we all know he is.

But Tottenham? What a terribly badly run club.

Will Levy let Pocchetino build a team or sack him if they don’t get 4th/5th? On form, I don’t give the brilliant Argentine much of a chance.

The flaws at Chelsea are so many, so manifold, so deep, so damaging to themselves and the whole fabric of English and world football, it’s too much to go into.

Manchester City is like the ostensibly respectable version of Chelsea, but their transfer / wage policy is killing football, and they’re doing nothing to bring through young local or domestic talent.

And Manchester United? Van Gaal’s team are making paint drying seem like a thrilling way to occupy one’s time.

Today, I’m still a proud Gooner.

Thanks for your continued critiques, all the same!!

Thanks for your continued balance, Brendan.

Keep blogging here!

I’ve never thought for 10 seconds that Spurs would overtake Arsenal.

Made that crystal clear here for many seasons.

Tottenham have an inferiority complex. And there are many reasons for that.

One obvious reason is that, as a club, they are inferior.

Also, I‘ve seen and heard things that few Arsenal fans have ever experienced.

And I’ve seen stuff I wouldn’t wish on any football fan : such as  Alan Sugar in action at a Spurs AGM. Twice. Tried to erase those memories but the shock still lingers.

You’re a more caring football fan than me & nicer as well.

So seeing chairman Sugar bawl out a woman shareholder would have made your jaw drop.

(Whatever people think, I’m aware of my frequent misjudgements)
