From Wayne : Arsenal 2 Everton 1 could have gone either way
Hi Myles,
An entertaining game indeed.
One I thought Arsenal would go on to coast and at 2-0 I expected a little more professionalism from the team. However the old weaknesses still surfaced.
When Oxlade Chamberlain received the ball on the edge of the box there were six red shirts ahead of him, yet he elects to go through three Everton players, gets quickly closed down, loses possession and Everton break quickly.
It was just as some of last season’s horror shows as Arsenal players tried to sprint back. When Barkley received the ball, he had only one defender ahead of him. He was quickly closed down but made a little space for himself and got fortunate with the deflection. He should never have got the shot in.
A few efforts hit the woodwork in the second half, and Everton were always in the game up until the whistle, as Arsenal carried on with the wide open style of play which keeps everyone on the edge of our seats.
The Toffeeman in swimming gear was hilarious!
Myles says :
Oxlade will never be as half as good as Deulefeu.
He’ll always be what he is now : explosive, eye-catching and erratic.
