Hi Myles,
Your comment about West Ham defending deep and narrow reminded me of a Koeman quote about 11 years ago, where he claimed to have ‘found out’ Arsene by deploying those same tactics.
I couldn’t find the exact quote, so will use yours instead: from 28th February, 2003:
“Koeman and Krol, like others before them, sussed out Arsenal’s narrow, one-dimensional style of play. So they defended deep, kept a clean sheet, and almost nicked the game.”
Plus la change….
We’ll get better, but my fear is that the signings we should have made to tip us into contention will leave us where we normally are: somewhere between 3rd and 4th.
And seeing as Arsenal defeats are usually followed by draws, that’s where my money is going on Sunday.
Let’s hope we win and I lose.
