AFTER THE WORLD CUP, I said that Ashley Cole was better than Roberto Carlos.
Two months ago, Ashley said he doesn’t play as well for England as he does for Arsenal.
No mystery there : England don’t have Pires,Vieira or Henry.
Before Euro 2004 I decided to pick my team of the tournament – before and after.
Cole, Vieira and Zidane were in it.
And they will be in my AFTER team too.
Pauleta won’t be.
Baros will be.
ZAMBROTTA was fantastic for Italy, but Ashley Cole was better than Zambrotta and better than fantastic.
Fast, agile, tackling superbly, a tenacious Brit with true grit, Ashley has been marvellous in England’s four games.
Fact : Ashley Cole CAN defend.
With ten Ashleys we could have won Euro 2004.
WORD OF WARNING : our builders started today.
