From Mike: infuriating
The fans that back Wenger and say that there’s little wrong with the club right now are as deluded as he is.
Take the three recent Premier League losses.
Stoke and Swansea away and Man Utd at home.
These losses weren’t a surprise to me. They’ve happened before.
Each of those teams have been very capable of beating Arsenal over the last three or four seasons.
Beating Arsenal can be very easy because the manager isn’t good enough anymore!
From Poet: Rodgers and Wenger are similar
Having watched Wenger-developed midfielders for years, you learn to notice a number of things.
One of those things is the lack of defensive awareness.
I’ve watched Denilson, Diaby, Song, Flamini, Cesc, Ramsey, and Wilshere, among others, lose track of their man for years. The only midfielders we have who has defensive awareness are the ones who we bought with the skillset already, like Gilberto Silva.
The same hold true in defence as well.
All our best defenders were bought, like Sagna and Sol Campbell.
Djourou and Senderos never stood a chance.
Ashley Cole was the only exception, and even he improved his defensive game drastically when he moved to Chelsea.
We saw the same thing happen with Coutinho and Rooney. The second Rooney scored that goal, I said to my brother who was watching the game with me, “Someone forgot to track Rooney, because he started the move closer to the halfway line than the goal. Why was he left open?”
Sure enough, the replay showed Coutinho was right next to Rooney at the beginning of the play, but when Rooney dashed forward, Coutinho was jogging and watching the ball. He had no idea he just lost his man!
Oscar would not have lost Rooney because if he did, Mourinho would drop him from the line-up next week.
This kind of mistake should not happen at this level of play, but it does.
At the top level, games watched by hundred of millions of people, we should be able to expect millionaire players to do the things middle school students are taught to do in after-school training. T
That Rooney goal was one of Rodger’s deficiency in a nutshell. He’s had 3 years and more resources than any recent Liverpool manager to put together a defense, but he has failed miserably because he doesn’t teach his players basic defensive habits.
Rodger’s only possible solution? Because he hasn’t inherited a George Graham’s defence like Wenger, he needs to get proper defensive leaders who will organize the defence for him, just like Adams, Sol, Gilberto, and Vieira did for Wenger.
Myles says:
Steve Bould could teach Liverpool how to defend.
If Wenger won’t let him coach, he should find another job.
Poor old Bouldy must be consumed by frustration. He knew it would be like this. That’s why he turned down Pat Rice’s job when Pat wanted to retire, so he could coach the reserves.
They paid Pat a helluva lot of £ £ £ to do one more season. Then, allegedly, Wenger told Bouldy: replace Pat or you’re out of the club.
Physio Gary Lewin got out as soon as he could.
My opinion: I don’t think Gary could stand what he saw in the creche every day. .
Gary Lewin’s departure was a colossal blow that nobody ever mentions.
He will never say anything about why he left Arsenal.
But Gary doesn’t have to talk about why he walked.
It was: “I’m out of here!”
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
