Cesc Fabregas? Enough already!

From Issam : He didn’t supply Torres’ goal at Euro 2008

Myles, Fabregas did not supply that pass. It was Xavi.

But he was inspirational in 1/4 vs Italy by scoring the last penalty shout out and in 1/2 vs Russia providing assists of last 2 Spain goals. Keep up !

From Paul : Cesc

Whilst I think Cesc will be a useful squad member for Chelsea, I do not see him as being the star influential midfielder.

Like Rooney, Cesc has been playing top level football on a regular basis since he was 17 and it can be reasonably argued that both of their peak years were 2006-2012 (20 to 26 years old).

It is difficult to quantify but in my opinion, as most top flight footballers do not play regularly until they are c.20-21yrs, the likes of Rooney and Cesc are running short of gas and are now playing more like veterans in their early 30s.

It’s a game of opinions!

From Simon: stop the Cesc talk…

Hi Myles,

Cesc Fabregas has gone.

He is not coming back. Wenger has rejected him. We need to get over it.

He has found a potential new love. Best of luck to him.

Arsenal have an embarrassment of riches in midfield (when all fit!). If Cesc had returned, who would have sat on the bench to accommodate him? Ramsey? Ozil? The Ox? Can’t see that happening… Cesc may even have had to sit on the bench. More splinters to impale his backside vying for position with the Barca bench splinters.

Can we stop all this talk about how good he will be at Chelski? I don’t care.

This is ANR not CNR. Ozil will be better this year. The confidence which Aaron Ramsey will start this year will be fantastic. Wilshere (even though I think he has regressed slightly…) will be getting a full pre-season which will be of huge benefit. Let us look forward and stop blowing kisses at the past.

Our love needs to be directed towards our new loves of which there are plenty. Hope you are enjoying this World Cup as much as I am, Myles.

That Suarez is always hungry… Doesn’t he eat his half time oranges..?

From Ian Pollock :

I don\’t think he will need re-igniting.Question should be “Can Fabregas re-ignite Torres?”

Fabregas came on in the meaningless game v Australia and played two superb long inch- perfect passes…one out to the left flank…the other in to the area for Mata to score his goal

But you can see why Barthelona didn\’t see him as a starter…he likes to make passes longer than 10 yds !!

Myles says:

Cesc calls his mate Nando.

They’ve know each other for a long time.

I think  Nando will play his mate in for a few shots, if they play together, rather than the other way round.

Diego Costa is a more primitive lone ranger centre forward.

He plays an attritional game, Simon
