After Aston Villa and Turin, it will be Villareal

FRIDAY was the end of an excitng week.

Late last night, as I watched a video of Inter beating Villareal 2-1, I realised that Villareal will eliminate Inter and play Arsenal.

THE SUN says Robert Pires will join Villareal next season. He would fit in very well there and would love playing with Riquelme and Forlan.

Pires has said “I’ve received offers from England, Scotland, Portugal and Spain but it’s good to have a range of options on the table.”

Arsene re-stated club policy : “He’s approaching his 33rd birthday and as he gets older he simply has to accept a short-term contract. It’s sad but footballers’ careers ‘die’ young !”

I would like Pires to stay at Arsenal, so we will see what happens.

Today it’s Arsenal-Aston Villa and I’m expecting Adebayor to come back and I’m expecting three points.

After the thrilling 2-0 win over Juventus many friends, and my kid brother, have said,”There’s still another 90 minutes of football” and “If they get an early goal…”.

Ruud Gullit and Ray Wilkins were on Sky after the Lyon-AC MIlan 0-0 yawn and both said Juventus will try every dirty trick in the book to intimidate Arsenal on Wednesday night.
And Arsene says : We are still fragile.

Despite all that, I don’t expect Arsenal to buckle under the pressure. I think it’s over. It will be a nervy night but I think it’s over. I agree that 3-0 would have been better than 2-0 but I reckon the Zebina and Camoranesi red cards are worth a third goal. In my mind it is a 3-0 lead and I’m convinced that Arsenal will go through to their first Champions League semi-final.
