From Paul : Klopp has proved Wenger wrong
Hi Myles!
Since the Invincibles, Wenger has tried to build a team of young players to play for the title.
Everybody’s kept saying that you need a more experienced team to win the title.
Well, Dortmund proved last season that you can win the title with a young team.
Klopp coached Mainz 05 from 2001 to 2008 and was very successful by building a team with a core of young German players.
In 2008 he arrived in Dortmund and did the same thing.
As a result, he won the league only 3 years after having arrived in Dortmund. He didn’t win the title with a team he took over. It took him three years to build a young team with a winner’s attitude.
Klopp has proved Wenger wrong. He’s made Wenger look like a fool!
Why? Because he did it the “Wenger way”.
The big difference is that he managed to give the team a soul.
With the team of mercenaries Wenger has built his team with, you won’t get that attitude into a team. Wenger always says that it is not a matter of nationality, but a matter of quality.
Well, Mr. Wenger, it is not!
It’s a matter of quality and a matter of attitude!
The players have to identify with the club, otherwise the team won’t have a soul and won’t ever win anything at all.
Myles says :
Quite right on Arsenal’s attitude. Or lack of.
I knew it was all over when I heard the players only attended the staff Xmas party in alternate years.
Wenger allowed that. He condoned that insult. That was saying: we half-care. We care once every two years.
Dortmund beat Hamburg 3-1 last night.
Their collective style is busy, methodical, energetic, positive, brisk- and quite sparky & penetrating in the front third.
I kinda like the way they play.
OK, it’s a bit Bundesliga : good width & careful passing, those German characteristics.
Took them only 17 minutes to score their first goal of the season.
Jurgen Klopp is 44 and a character that Arsenal should hire before Bayern do.
He could turn Arsenal round in six months. Having missed out on AVB, Klopp should be No1 on Ivan’s shortlist.
Be a good challenge for the German, since it’s harder over here: the Bundesliga has no Chelsea and no Man United.
