From Matt : season tickets
Myles,
I wanted to show you an example of how Arsenal fans are voting on their feet in displeasure at the current situation.
Yesterday (7/7) I emailed the club to find out where I am on the season ticket waiting list and received a reply stating that I am 7,263 in the queue.
However, today I received another email saying “CONGRATULATIONS We are pleased to inform you that you are now eligible to be offered 1 season ticket(s) for this coming season 2011-2012.”
Can it be that over the space of 24 hours 7,263 fans have been offered a season ticket and rejected it???
What does this say about the state of affairs at the club?
Myles replies
It tells you that demand is soft, as the club always knew it would be.
The 7,263 figure looks like a fiction, just like the legendary 40,000 waiting list.
You can have 40,000 on a waiting list but that doesn’t mean that each of those punters will write a big cheque to watch an average team whose two best players want to leave.
And you put prices up by 6.5% but don’t sign top players.
Ivan Gazidis knows how exactly how the fans feel.
He was there when they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa and I’m sure he was at Craven Cottage when pissed-off Arsenal fans chanted, “Spend some fu**ing money!” as Wenger walked across the pitch.
