From Sam Bicton : Why is Wenger unsackable?
Hi Myles,
I can well understand that the previous, pre- Stan board were scared rigid by the prospect of a Wengerless future, but do you really think this is still true now?
Your latest post implies that all power now lies with the gruesome threesome, so how can this account for Wenger’s continued employment?
Have Stan and Ivan imbibed the timidity of PHW and his ilk, or have they another motive for prolonging his, and our, agony?
The board should start fearing what will happen if we lose the CL qualifier in August.
Bruce Rioch was sacked in 1996 for less, to as I recall widespread condemnation from the media.
The club, and David Dein, were roundly derided- ” not the Arsenal way “, etc, etc.
This ruthless dispatch allowed for the unparalleled success of Wenger. Maybe they should remember this. The board may be rewarded in Heaven for their forbearance with their manager, but history suggests they will not be rewarded with Premier League success.
Myles says:
Because he has a contract till 2014.
Stan told Danny to give him that contract.
Stan isn’t a winner. He’s a a savvy accumulator of profits over long periods of time.
