Arsenal’s next manager will be Patrick Vieira, I’m told

Summer announced itself yesterday with the warmest April day for 70 years.

We put on shorts and holiday shirts and loved it

Today Wenger started a party.

A party across the land, across the entire Arsenal diaspora, an explosion of joy and laughter and memories of exciting victories, colossal performances and thrilling moments and well deserved titles.

Every office and shop  and school and factory was buzzing, people were interrupting meetings to spread the news, calling their best friends, their brothers and sisters and Mums and Dads

Wenger had announced that he’ll step down at the end of the season.

I thought: What does that mean? Leave the club completely?

That’s what we all want.

Then Arsenal could bring him back as a director two years down the line, after the new manager has settled in and put his stamp on the club and cleared out all the deadbeats on Wenger’s vast payroll.

At 10.09 a trusted source had sent a one-line email : I’m told it will be Vieira.

We all know Pat isn’t ready. And I’m terrified that Wenger will still run the show and be on TV every day and be at the training ground every day.
