Three won close battles: Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea/next weekend

Arsenal v Bournemouth was a closely-fought scrap.

And Wenger’s team was flattered by the final score of 3-1.

The team now has a few issues in midfield and defence.

Alexis Sanchez got the first goal when defender Steve Cook miskicked a back-pass to him.

Lucky Arsenal!

That blunder was the most startling I’ve seen in the Premier League since Swansea keeper Michel Vorm threw the ball to Arshavin, who signaled his astonishment before slotting for 1-0

Monreal’s foul on Callum Wilson was a stonewall penalty and the striker converted to make it 1-1 after 23 minutes.

In 53 Monreal crossed accurately for Walcott to head in, after Ozil’s first cross was cleared by Ake to the attacking left back. In 95, sub Giroud exchanged passes with Ozil and passed across the goal for Sanchez to score his second.

Some Gooners at the game thought 2-2 would have been a fairer score.

West Ham are a rugged outfit whose centre forward Sakho scored after 2 minutes at Old Trafford, where the Hammers got a 1-1 draw.

United could not add to a tasty little header by Zlatan from a fantastic pass by Pogba.

Burnley v Man City finished 1-2 after Burnley scored first. Aguero got a brace.

Pep keeps saying that “We’ve played eight more games than Chelsea or Liverpool.”

Chelsea v Manchester City is on Sky at 5-30 on Saturday.

Spurs played very well at Chelsea and took the lead when Chistian Eriksen killed a hard pass from Dele Alli with his first touch and smashed it past Courtois with his second. Chelsea 0 Spurs 1 after 11 minutes. Best goal I saw all weekend.

But Pedro made it 1-1 in 45 and, in another tough contest, Victor Moses scored the winner in 51.

Conte’s switch to 3-4-3 has produced seven consecutive wins and Eriksen’s thunderbolt is the only goal they’ve conceded in all those games.

Diego Costa and Aguero have both scored 10 goals so far and I reckon Citeh v Chelsea might be the most significant Premier League clash so far.

It could tell us a lot if it’s not a draw. I’ll be happy just to see my favourite player,Kevin De Bruyne, and my second favourite, Costa, on the same pitch.

Saturday’s West Ham v Arsenal encounter will be a test for the Arsenal defence, which is missing Bellerin hugely. Mustafi has looked slow and vulnerable. He was lucky to get away with a push in the box that could have been a penalty.

Dimitri Payet, the outstanding player at Old Trafford, will be quite happy to take on Monreal or Gabriel.

Bournemouth v Liverpool is on Sunday and Klopp may be without Philippe Coutinho, who was man-marked by Sunderland and stretchered off with an ankle injury.

Sub Origi, a player I like a lot, eventually put Liverpool ahead at Anfield & Milner made it 2-0 in 90.

Swansea striker Llorente did better than that. He scored two goals in 90 as the Swans beat Crystal Palace 5-4.
