ITV show VW commercial as Everton score winning goal

 Everton 1 Liverpool 0 (AET)

ITV missed the goal.

The Merseyside replay was 1-0 to Everton in extra time and ITV missed the goal

One of the most disgraceful episodes in the history of commercial broadcasting?

It’s a dire game, very tight, yellow cards, Gerrards gone off early with a hamstring, Lucas gets two yellow cards, its 0-0 after 90 minutes and after 105 and it gets to 117 minutes and there are three minutes left and it looks like penalties and then the picture goes into a commercial !!!!!!!

Unbelievable !

My wife Jan said, “Hang your heads in shame, ITV !”

Then they cut away from the commercial and we saw Everton celebrating a goal !

A big pile of blue-shirted players on the ground laughing, close-ups of ecstatic fans.

At last ! There had been a goal at last !

BUT WE DIDN’T SEE IT !

Sky Sports News pundit Micky Quiinn told us that the second half of extra time had just started, so I switched back to ITV and saw that it had not. So ITV were now on time-delay, which makes no difference to 97% of viewers.

But to switch to a commercial during the game is shocking. And then, when there was a goal, to cut back to the game. That was SHAMEFUL. That was DESPICABLE.

Personally, I never watch ITV. I haven’t seen it for 15 years, apart from Champions League games. To me ITV is a foreign country that I never visit. I haven’t watched ITV since the second series of Chancer.

They showed us the goal after they showed us the celebration.

Host Steve Rider apologised for “technical difficulties”

RUBBISH !

If you sign a contract to show the FA Cup games live, show them. If you are going to show football, show it. Show what you paid for. Show the first half and show the second half and show extra time and fit your commercials round the action.

TO INTERRRUPT THE GAME DELIBERATELY WAS APPALLING.
It was disgusting.

Will ITV say it was a mistake?

Cutting back 30 seconds later as soon as the goal was scored proved it was no mistake.

The goalscorer was Dan Gosling. The ball was crossed from the right by sub Van Der Meyde and it fell to Gosling and the kid evaded Arbeloa and clipped a shot to the far side and the ball nicked Skrtel’s leg and went past Reina to win the game

Dan Gosling was 19 on Monday and scored against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

While Gosling was scoring it, ITV were showing that very silly commercial where a man kick-boxes his double in an auto factory.
