Super Sunday stars men of the moment: Ozil,Vardy & Kane

Leicester played Arsenal at the Kingpower Stadium on September 26.

Alexis Sanchez scored a superb hat-trick and Arsenal won 5-2.

Since then Leicester have been very consistent and,  as everybody knows, Vardy & Mahrez have been on fire.

On Sunday they’ll visit the Emirates Stadium as league leaders.

Leicester know that Mesut Ozil is playing out of his skin, creating multiple chances inside the box.

This kind of game is one the statisticians look at closely.

Data we didn’t know about is revealed by Opta and others. It was a shock to be told that in the last 11 games against league leaders, Arsenal have lost 6 and drawn 4 and won 1.

And scored 4 goals while conceding 18???

I’m tempted to dismiss that by saying,”Every football match is different, every season is different. All of that was before Petr Cech came.”

But are those cultural stats? The sign of a team that can’t handle pressure?

Scored only 4 goals in 11 games against the league leaders?

Let’s wait and see what happens on this Super Sunday of three games.

Arsenal v Leicester is the early match.

Then Aston Villa v Liverpool brings the stuttering Benteke back to his former club. He’s gone 9 games without a goal.

Liverpool didn’t impress in their FA Cup replay at West Ham last night .

Coutinho, back at last, started and scored with a cute free-kick hit low under as jumping wall to make it 1-1. That came in 48 after Michail Antonio, Nottingham Forest’s player of the year last season, buried an excellent volley at the far post just before half-time.

Sturridge played 60 as a sub, looking sharp and quick. In extra time I was muttering, “Penalties? I hate penalties!”

And then Dimitri Picasso aimed another of his perfect free-kicks and big centreback Ogbonna scored the winner with an emphatic header.

At 4pm on Sunday : Manchester City V Tottenham.

That match gives Harry Kane and Dele Alli a chance to do what Leicester did to Citeh last week: score three goals with no reply till the 87th minute.

Spurs are flying at the moment and their goal difference is the best in the top four.

Kane says their form is due to the spirit in a dressing room that has no “bad eggs”.
