Geoff Boycott wishes he’d been managed by Brian Clough

From Wenerd Black :

Must have been some kind of friendship.

Question to you Myles:

Did you ever enjoy cricket?

Myles says:

Did I ever enjoy cricket?

Only at school when I took blinding catches in the gully. I was only quite good at fielding, throwing and catching.

Only at uni when I umpired once against Nottingham.

Remember seeing Gary Sobers make 163 not against Statham, Higgs & England, also in Manchester.

Saw Ted Dexter hit the Aussies all round the ground at Hove one gloriously English afternoon.

I was glad it was Ted and not me facing the young, broad-shouldered Graham McKenzie, whose deliveries came down with an alarming velocity.

I can see McKenzie now. He had a good action and was very fast but he didn\’t bother Dexter at all. The small crowd really enjoyed seeing the local hero show the Australians how to play the game we invented.

Was thinking about cricket last weekend when Jan & I went to mid-Wales to visit friends Jenny & Dave .

As we were walking on the huge long beach at Aberdovey, I remembered when the four of us went swimming the last time we went there, and took a picnic.

Later on that afternoon I went for a stroll on my own to the far end of the beach and when I came back I was propositioned by an attractive blonde Mum. She was playing beach cricket with two boys and a couple of younger daughters, or friends.

When I fielded a shot competently, she invited me to join their game.
