From Michael Budgen:
Conversely Myles, Arsenal’s results against the current Top 5 so far this season are
Leicester : Won 5-2
Spuds : Drew 1-1
Man City : Won 2-1
Man Utd : Won 3-0
It could all depend on how much manhandling Huth can get away with, I would go with Walcott up top, to play ‘out of his hands’
Myles says:
Arsenal blew Man Utd away with speed, Michael, and Walcott was a big part of that 20-minute whirlwind.
But you can’t play Walcott against Leicester.
He wouldn’t get a kick and even if he did he’d give them the ball back. He’s the most hit-or- miss player I’ve ever seen. And the best example of Wenger’s refusal to own up when a signing has failed. He likes to keep the lads who’ve failed because he doesn’t want to tell them the truth – and he doesn’t want to admit a mistake.
Being dropped for Walcott gave Giroud the kick up the arse he needed. Since then he’s been good, within his limitations.
Wenger has always planned to play Gabriel in this game, not Mertesacker.
If Giroud plays at his best and bravest, Arsenal could win 1-0.
But if Kasper Schmeichel plays at his best, Leicester might win 1-0
Unfortunately, Alexis Sanchez is not razor-sharp yet.
His comeback was always going to be geared to the Barcelona games. Sanchez will be hyper-motivated for these two encounters against the club that sold him and won the treble in 2015.
If I’ve got anything more to say about Arsenal v Leicester on Saturday or on Sunday morning, I’ll write it here.
But maybe I have nothing else to say but : bring it on!
I expect a very exciting contest, even if it’s a low-scoring one.
Arsenal v Leicester is at noon on Sunday.
