From Michael Budgen:
Did you see this astonishing attack by Marina Hyde, it felt more like a political hatchet job than a football piece !
As Prometheus said, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.”
Would be interesting to see your take, as you rate him so highly, with particular note to their shambolic transfer policy, Lukaku & KDB out, sparkling young talents kicked out because they don’t fit the JM now now model.
Myles says:
Saw that headline yesterday and was about to read the column when I was interrupted by a phone call, then by another call, and other stuff.
Thanks to you, Michael, I’ve now read Marina’s piece.
Don’t think she’s bonkers, do think the Mourinho meltdown is rather Shakespearean, tragic character flaw and all that.
The most surprising thing was that she didn’t mention the manager’s humiliation of Dr Eva.
But Marina probably wrote about that when it happened.
My gut feeling is that Mourinho will be replaced in the next 10 days.
I didn’t mind him being cocky but detested his nastiness when a game or a call went against him.
He worked with the great Bobby Robson, the manager I liked most of all the hundreds I met.
But Jose but didn’t learn gracious sporting behaviour from Bobby. Didn’t know how to lose.
