Just kidding, Brian !
England were marvellous, weren’t they?
Michael Owen?
What a great player!
Tonight I guffawed louder at England than I’ve guffawed since the night Mike Duxbury trod on the ball v USSR and we lost 2-0 to a great team.
BBC’s Garth Crooks : “Did 4-3-3 work?”
Sven : “I think so.”
A TRULY SURREAL MOMENT IN BBC HISTORY !!!!
That was when I guffawed and stood up and did something I have never done in my life after a game of televised football.
I got up and walked into the hall and went out into the street and walked away from the England manager.
It was quite cold, since I was just wearing my jumper, but not freezing.
I strolled about 50 yards down the street – no pedestrians, no traffic – and looked around and came back and shouted through my letterbox : Is he still on?
I had gone out without my keys.
Jan let me back in.
What a shambles !
It was kitsch football : so bad it was good.
If the game was worth describing, if it was worth analysing, I would describe and analyse.
