I’VE BEEN READING your emails.
There are many complaints, so an apology is in order.
Over the last three or four years, I must have written hundreds of thousands of words here.
And I’m the first to admit I’ve made plenty of mistakes, written irresponsible things, stuff I wish I had never written.
I’m sorry. I’m always sorry when I cause offence.
TODAY I HEAR that the bank loan will finally be signed – within days or hours.
I’ve always said Ashburton Grove would be built and I’ve always said that it’s NOT too much money to borrow.
Team achievements like the Doubles are huge.
But this achievement by the team off the field is huge as well.
It’s massive. It’s mega. It’s historic.
It’s ambitious and sensible and wholly commendable.
Building a new super-stadium in London is something no other club could do.
I saw 16 cranes at Wembley two days ago. They have to raise a 300-metre steel arch which is very heavy, so they need many cranes.
Ashburton will not need 16 cranes. About 8 will do.
EXPECT an announcement on Monday – or sooner.
20th February 2004.
