Emmanuel Adebayor on Sunday threatened to quit his Togo international career in the next six months, says AFP.
“If things don’t improve in the next six months, I could stop my international career,” said Adebayor in an interview given to the FIFA website.
“While I am prepared to give everything to my country, if they cannot organise things well, I will have to make a decision that is best for my life.”
Meanwhile the People say Fabrice Muamba, 18, could be on his way out of Arsenal with offers to buy him in the transfer window. Muamba could be sold for about £2.5million, with Middlesbrough, Fulham and Everton on his trail.
The Independent however quotes Wenger as saying that no player, with the possible exception of the midfielder Sebastien Larsson, 21, who is on loan at Birmingham, would be sold during this transfer window.
The Arsenal v Man City Premiership match has been re-arranged for Wednesday, February 14 (7.45pm), subject to neither club being involved in an FA Cup fourth-round replay. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, but had to be moved due to Arsenal’s Carling Cup commitments.
Spurs are bringing Ledley King back specially for that match says the Sun.
Freddie Ljungberg will see out the two years remaining on his Arsenal contract, according to Arsène Wenger.
Out of all the Ljungberg quotes, this is the most interesting: “When he’s fit he gives you something. He has typical aspects of his game that nobody else has. He makes runs from midfield, behind the defenders and the other players are more who come to the ball. It’s an interesting asset to have in your team.”
Meanwhile the Guardian rumours section says Arsenal are on the verge of swapping Freddie Ljungberg for Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon.
One Sunday says Newcastle are set to try to land Arsenal starlet Jeremie Aliadiere on loan to boost their striking options. “United boss Glenn Roeder is keen on the 23-year-old Frenchman and was at Anfield in midweek.” However if you listen to Jeremie speak he categorically says he doesn’t want to go out on loan.
Good article in the Sunday Times which says the sale of Anthony Stokes brings – the amount raised from home grown Arsenal youth/ academy players to £39m. Forty four of them play for other English league clubs, not including those who still belong to either club but are currently elsewhere on loan.
