Save Vassell for Sweden! Don’t risk him against Cameroon!

Darius Vassell played the whole 90.

And played much better than Heskey.

So surely Sven will not start DV against Cameroon. He has enough injury problems without risking that.

The FA will probably announce at 4pm that Kieron Dyer will be coming home.

The starting eleven was MARTYN/MILLS FERDINAND CAMPBELL COLE/MURPHY HARGREAVES SCHOLES/VASSELL OWEN HESKEY.

So it was 4-3-3.

Which can be a good system against bad teams. Guus Hiddink had Korea in a 4-5-1 formation.

Scholes showed again that he should stick to passing and shooting.

He can’t tackle without fouling. He makes me laugh because he’s like a vampire.

When a vampire sees a neck it automatically sinks its teeth into it, and when Scholes sees a shin or an ankle, he kicks it.

He is hilarious. I fondly remember him being mugged by Stefan Schwarz, who said:Go on, kick me again. So Scholes kicked him again and was sent off!

England played OK and produced a lovely move for the goal.

Heskey found Scholes with a short pass in the box, he shot, and Owen bundled in the rebound.

A Gerd Muller goal, “A little goal” as Gerd used to call them.

Second half, it was JAMES/MILLS KEOWN SOUTHGATE BRIDGE/ SINCLAIR HARGREAVES JOE COLE/VASSELL SHERINGHAM HESKEY.

South Korea equalised with a typical English set-piece move. Right wing corner, headed on, Park got in front of Sheringham and headed in from four yards.

Hargreaves was tidy and has a good engine. I like him.

Nothing much happened after 1-1. Flashes from Joe Cole and the usual from Trevor Sinclair.

Regular readers will know my views on TS and this was more of the same.

Sinclair could play for England for the next 10 years without putting two consecutive passes to a white shirt.

He’s not good enough. Never has been, never will be.

Camerooon v England live at 6.30 on Sunday morning on Sky.

I might get up for that one since I often get up about seven on Sundays anyway.

If Lauren is playing, I’m usually watching.
