Darius Vassell scored an early goal and it was 1-0 at half-time.
Unfortunately for Jeffers, Vassell proved to be an abysmal partner for him.
After 35 minutes Jeffers made a nice run down the right and gave Vassell a good pass, but the favour was never returned.
Overall, I thought:I’ve seen this before.The foreign team are talented kids. And England are tough young men. And the tough young men usually win.
Jonathan Greening was clueless. He got away with fouling the keeper by jumping into him while he had the ball in his hands.The keeper had to limp off and stay off. I hope Greening plays as badly as this for Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Second half, Jermaine Defoe scored four seconds after coming on,tapping in a John Terry knockdown from three yards.
Defoe put Trevor Christie through for 3-0 and then, at the death, made it 4-0 himself.
Stuart Taylor never had a shot to save in the first half. Jermaine Pennant came on as a sub but was not able to do much.
But it was a half-decent game, better than I expected.
