Dudek deal still alive

By Myles Palmer

Toldo of Fiorentina did not go to Barcelona, so Feyonoord are playing off Arsenal against Barcelona, who still want Dudek, according to my Polish sportswriter pal Kaz Mochlinski.

Dudek yesterday told Polish journalists that he expects to be training at Arsenal on Friday!

So Wenger may still sign him, not Richard Wright of Ipswich.

Dudek, 28, is the better keeper. But he is not English and does not know the Premiership and would take a while to settle into English football.

Wright is 23. Can you win the Champions League with a 24 year old keeper?

Well, Casillas was 18 when Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 in Paris last year.

There are no rules on age. But we do know one thing for sure : David Seaman at 37 is nowhere near as brave or agile as he was.

Seaman has been handsomely protected for a decade, with, at times, seven of the world’s toughest, most organised defenders in front of him.

I thought Wenger should have signed Neil Sullivan on a free from Wimbledon last summer.

Some say Sullivan wanted an assurance that he would be No.1 , above Seaman. Others insist that Wenger was never in for Sullivan.

Well, if he wasn’t in for Sullivan, he should have been.

Because Neil Sullivan of Spurs is now a better keeper than David James or Richard Wright or Nigel Martyn.
