Papadopulos to arrive at Arsenal next week?

According to Czech media outlet, Ceska Tiskova Kancelar, Michal Papadopulos, 18, should sign with the club by next week at the latest.

As a Czech citizen, Papadopulos would need to have a work permit to play for the club, but as a Greek citizen, therefore a citizen of the EU, Papadopulos could work right away. And he’s just got a Greek passport.

Papadopulos will leave for London sometime over the weekend and will be accompanied by his father, a former footballer.

Apparently, Papadopulos’s contract can allow him to leave at the end of the season.

Ostrava will receive 100 million crowns for Papadopulos in four installments. ($1=28.135 crowns)

But Moriera says he could end up at Arsenal, if Kanu goes

Meanwhile France striker Daniel Moreira says he could move to Arsenal if Arsene Wenger can offload forward Nwankwo Kanu.

“Wenger got in touch with my agent last week and they are going to have lunch together on Tuesday,” Moreira told Eurosport.com on Tuesday.

“I know that Wenger likes me a lot and I think I could end up at Arsenal.

“The problem is that Wenger has too many strikers right now. He needs to sell one of them and he is hoping that Kanu will leave soon,” added the RC Lens forward.

He has also been linked with French champions Olympique Lyon.

Reports suggest Kanu may go on loan to Celta Viga for a season.

Wiltord loses claim

Sylvain Wiltord has lost a claim for three million euros against his former club Bordeaux.

The French league turned down his claim he was owed the money in damages after an acrimonious move from Bordeaux to Arsenal.

Bergkamp to return

Dennis Bergkamp will return to the club later this week, according to his agent, after an improved contract offer.

Bolton approached him, but the Dutchman didn’t want to move North.

But bad news of the property front

Two anti- Ashburton Stadium protestors have taken their case against the stadium to the European Court, which could mean a long drawn out protracted affair. [And where does it leave all that money spent on the development so far if they win?]

And Arsenal FC, which bid for development projects in N. London have been beated by NE based Grainger Trust which has been chosen to carry out a £70m redevelopment programme.

The largest scheme is at Hornsey Road Baths and will see Grainger Trust develop more than 200 residential units, 43,000 sq ft of offices for Islington Council and community buildings including a new theatre created from the listed part of the former swimming pool complex.

The second site is located in the heart of the historic Barnsbury area of Islington.

[Strange to see that the football club you support is now also a property development company in its own right.]
