From Wayne Phillips : Pochettino – more of the same
Myles,
Nice new style to the page!
Pochettino is a really promising young coach but I struggle to see how he will avoid the same fate at Spurs.
The reality is that Spurs were not good enough at Wembley against Chelsea because they don’t have the players. Only Lloris (sure to go when Spurs don’t make the Champions League), Vertongen (already mentally checked out of the Lane) and Eriksen had the quality needed for Spurs to stand toe to toe with Chelsea yesterday.
Kane is still too young, was seriously bossed by the entire Chelsea defence who had him picking up the ball way too deep and wide. At one stage, he was supplying crosses that he should have been on the end of!
Mason and to a lesser extent, Bentaleb, have been allowed to get away with too many bad tackles this season by the refs. The Chelsea midfield were too good to be kicked and look how easy it was for them?
Walker and Naughton are journeymen, and what else is there?
Let’s see what Levy says to Mauricio when he asks for money to replace those in the current starting XI with serious quality, knowing that if he doesn’t, then he will never win anything with that team.
The irony is that Levy blew the one chance he had to bring in the quality he needs – when he frittered away Bale’s transfer money on mediocrity like Lamela, Chadli, Chichires and Soldado. Chances like that come along once in a ‘blue moon’ unless of course you’re Manchester City!
Myles says:
Daniel is a shy accountant who doesn’t have the right personality to run a football club. Most accountants are introverted, while many lawyers are gregarious.
Baldini will need to sell before he buys, if he’s still there. Pochettino will need to develop a group of kids while the stadium is expensively built.
If Joe Lewis had the appetite to build a stadium. He’s already blown good chances to sell the club.
