Arsenal hold champions Man Utd in a tame draw

Arsenal 1 Manchester United 1

Walcott 2 Van Persie 44

This was an abysmal match that the lethargic champions didn\’t have to win.

Arsenal played a high-energy game right from the kick off and scored an early goal.

Ramsey played well but he couldn\’t score a goal or make one.

In an untidy contest with lots of yellow cards, when United were there for the taking in the first half, Arsenal just didn\’t have enough ideas or skill to grab a second goal.

When United didn\’t have the ball they were  hopeless and Phil Jones in midfield was the wrong call by Sir Alex.

No quality or coherent play  in the match at all.

Both goals came from appalling passes by the other team.

Robin van Persie made an entirely ignorant crossfield pass to  his old mate Gibbsy  and then Podolski found Rosicky, who played it through to Walcott, who beat  De Gea from close range. Walcott was half a yard offside but the goal stood.

First half I was thinking : United need Welbeck, they need Lewandowski\’s perceptive hold-up play, they need….somebody

Second half, United improved a lot but they needed two mistakes by Sagna to gift them the equaliser.

Sagna made a catastrophic back-pass to Van Persie, then chased back and brought RVP down in the penalty area with a tackle from behind.

RVP banged the penalty hard to the keeper\’s left for 1-1 in 44 minutes.

To win the game Arsenal needed to bring on Oxlade for Sagna, with Ramsey switching to right back. But Wenger didn’t do that.

Because Sagna was on a tightrope, very close to being sent off.

Many subs came on in the last 30 but nothing much happened .

A draw often happens when neither side deserves to win.

Let\’s face it, Arsenal haven\’t beaten anybody good this season.

Wenger\’s only win against a top six Premier League club was against a 10- man-Spurs.

Tottenham did Arsenal a favour by drawing 2-2 at Wigan on Saturday.

QPR and Reading have been relegated after their 0-0 draw.

Arsenal\’s remaining home game is Wigan.

The other two games are QPR away and Newcastle Away.

Three teams in the bottom five and one of those was beaten 6-0 at St James Park by Liverpool on Saturday.

A nice run-in for lucky Arsenal,
