Yes, Hoddle should be England’s caretaker

If Stuart Pearce does Euro 2012, world football will laugh at us.

Glenn Hoddle, now 54,  has more qualities, more experience.

He’s  a good tactical organiser who did OK in France 1998, even if his ego was a big problem in training sessions.

He must have mellowed and would  not make the England teamany worse. In fact, I’m sure he could improve it.

OK, there was a time, a long time, when I thought that the best manager for a bunch of comprehensive school yobbos would be someone who knows how to talk to comprehensive school yobbos : like Harry Redknapp.

But I don’t reckon H will get the job now. And I don’t think he should be allowed anywhere near it.

Mainly, as I keep saying, England fans want a run for their money.

We know we’re not good enough to win a tournament but we just want one exciting knock-out victory, quickly followed by a heroic failure.

Fabio Capello didn’t give us that in South Africa.

He lost 4-1 to the Germans.

Hoddle wouldn’t lose 4-1 to the Germans.

As a caretaker for Poland/Ukraine, it’s a brainwave and  an idea  I had considered and mentioned to a couple of friends, who poo-poohed the notion, dismissing it totally.

Glenn  says he’s ready to be our caretaker.

His record as England manager was not too shabby : 28-17-6-5.

That’s far better than the  idiotic Graham Taylor’s 38-18-13-7.

Or Sven-lite McClaren’s 18-9-4-5.

Or Klueless Kevin Keegan’s 18-7-7-4.

Would Wayne Rooney play any role that Hoddle asked him to play in a particular game?

Yes.
