He simply does not buy anyone over £10m – and no one at all if he can get away with it.
The fact is persistent failure has forced Wenger to completely break up the group of young players he has been nurturing and backing for years.
When the imbecile AKB start working out the cost of everything, they also need to calculate how many millions have been wasted in recruiting and nurturing talent that was never good enough in the first place, and have been overpaid by the club to keep them from leaving.
I am referring to Lansbury, JET, Sunu, Denilson,Traore, Bendtner,Vela – let alone those that are so bad and being paid so much that he can’t give them away- like Almunia, Squillacci or Rosicky.
Tell me : Who would buy the liabilities that are Djourou or Song? How much are they worth on the market?
Which top side would they get in?
The irony is : Wengers’ few successes leave as they approach maturity because they can see that the manager is a joke.
