Opportunity knocks : use Nasri £20m to sack Wenger

From Alex Tenenbaum : Arsenal

Dear MP,

I’ve written to you a few times, and have, by and large, been a defender of Arsene Wenger.

However, this is now it.

The moment that Cesc Fabregas and/or Samir Nasri walk out on Arsenal without winning a trophy is the moment that Wenger’s project has failed.

The one plus of all of this is that it gives us a chance to re-energize the club.

Nasri and Cesc have been the stars of failure and keeping them would lead to another Summer of no-signings, and another fourth place, trophyless season.

If the club had any mettle they’d sell the two of them (plus Clichy). sack Wenger immediately (and it kills me to say that), and give a new manager the chance to build a squad around the few top players we have left – Wilshere, RVP, Vermaelen and Szczesny.. (Ramsey)

But we won’t. Wenger will be kept on until the sad day comes that we finish outside the top 4 (possibly next summer).

Arsenal has gone from a proud club of tradition who goes about things the “right way” into a laughing stock, a selling club, who trains players who one day hope to play for Manchester City…

Could you imagine a situation at any other top club when two first-team players who be allowed to enter the final year of their contracts?

And after Flamini…

Ivan Gazidis – what do you do every day?

Myles replies :

Agree in part, Alex.

I cannot imagine that situation at another top club.

But I would act now because Arsenal can’t improve while Wenger is there.

He’s paid £7m a year to qualify for the Champions League.

But he hasn’t qualified yet. If  he loses that CLQ on August 23/24, it will be seen as a financial disaster.

Having retired, Paul Scholes wants Nasri to replace him at Old Trafford.

Nasri ran down his contract by pretending to negotiate and allowing that sham  was incompetence by Wenger and Gazidis.

Now  Nasri will tell Wenger that he wants to join Manchester United.

My solution?

Sell Nasri to United and use the £20m  to sack Wenger.

He is a serial loser. Fabregas and Nasri  no longer believe his spin. Fabregas doesn’t think third is a trophy. Nasri doesn’t think third is a trophy either. And Clichy thinks : if they’re leaving, I’m going too.

Pay  this manager  off now.

Own up to a fact of football history : while building a new stadium, Arsenal gave their manager far too much power.

Wenger  was allowed to go  his own way and he lost  the plot.

He’s had 15 years. That’s enough.

Don’t worry about the CLQ game. This rabble were never going to win the Champions League anyway.

Wembley showed that a complete re-vamp is needed.

Losing 2-1 to Birmingham  proved everything I’ve ever said about the Colney Creche culture.

After that farce, Wenger sulked and sulked and sulked. He was sulking for three months and  the  team’s results reflected  the manager’s  sulking.

Arsenal  need a British core, like Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The fans need  some passionate players they can support,  players  they can identify with, players who can help Jack Wilshere to win trophies.

Fabregas was  loved but he was always going to leave.
