From Peter : MUFC and Barcelona
It’s funny, Myles….your (understandable) dissatisfaction with Arsenal has led you to overrate MUFC and buy into the hype as the game has approached.
MUFC won the Premier League simply because the other teams imploded.
Post-CL final, MUFC have been shown up for what they are….ordinary, and, in the context of the domestic campaign in 2010-11, very lucky.
Myles replies :
OK, the 2011 Man United team was rather average.
But Hernadez only cost £6.5 million, which proves they have a good scout south of the dribbly creek they used to call the Rio Grande.
United are very ambitious and always have been. They have 70 marketing people working for the club in London, to extend their global profile. Having won 19 titles, the club is marketable. They can make deals and attract offers.
Sir Alex buys proven players who can do a job, as well as skilful, tenacious kids.
In five years at United, Vidic has won four titles and played in three Champions League finals. He was voted Footballer of the Year for 2011. He became captain recently. Have you noticed Vidic putting in any transfer requests lately?
