From Alex Marc : Louis XIV & others
Myles,
This is a fun piece!
Please allow me to put back the quote “l’etat c’est moi” where it belongs: Louis XIV, le roi Soleil…after that anything is possible, especially from De Gaulle!
I disagree with you on one point though: if the season continues to spiral out of control, which at this point is more than a 50% chance, I believe that Kroenke or his dedicated “servants” will step in and force Wenger to shape up or leave.
It is true that for Americans the Arsenal Football Club is a travel & leisure enterprise…a Nike, Carling & Barclays-sponsored Disneyland.
And because it is exactly that, it cannot put up with deep and ongoing dissent in public. The American sport franchises have one single focus and that is marketing.
In order to maximize your impact, you need reasonably happy people, and that is becoming a more scarce resource by the day at the Emirates!
How many blogs are still believers? Not many! How many pundits are still believers? Have ever been believers?
This can all be considered peripheral issues as long as the fans keep buying 2 new strips every season and keep swallowing stratospheric ticket prices, but there the tide is turning as well.
And a well-run American marketing business does not take any chances!
p.s. If Djourou plays against Carroll, we have a chance. With “toto”, Carroll will score more than 1!
